New Station Update:

On April 2nd, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that all K-12 schools in the state of Michigan will not be open for the rest of the school year.  This will also mean that 89.5 WAHS will not be open.  As a result, there will be no live shows during this time.   Music will still play on the station.  We are working hard to get new content on the air and possibly start making podcasts from the comforts of our home.  We appreciate your understanding through this difficult time and we hope that everyone stays healthy.  For more updates on our station, please follow our Facebook page.

These are the current shows on WAHS 89.5.  On some of the shows, click on the icon to see more information.

Picture This

Radio used to be known as the theater of the mind and of the imagination. It allowed both broadcasters and listeners to use their imagination to tell stories in their heads. If that sounds interesting, you can listen to some old 1940s radio, but you could also listen to Picture This! Featuring David Wolfley, Jayden Allen, Ryan Klein, and Christian Stewart. It’s simple: one person gives a scenario. “Picture this: there’s a zombie apocalypse that breaks out, what’s your first move?” and everyone uses that scenario to tell a story. Tune in to Picture This! Thursdays at 12:30 pm.

Radio is theatre of the mind

Radio Club

Here at Avondale, we have a variety of different clubs.  One of them is Radio Club.  The Radio Club Show usually features students who are not in radio class but still have an interest or passion for radio.  Often, there is no theme.  Often there is no set plan.  So at times, it can get pretty random.  Tune in Fridays at 3 to hear the craziness.

Rock & Roll High School

Its all the Classic Rock. We've got guitars, we've got drums, and we've got teenagers singing about getting out of school. Some things never change. Tune in for a mix of nostalgia, intense foot tapping, and maybe some surprises from our local Classic Rock experts.

We're licensed air-guitarists

The A-Train

David, the Jazz man, brings us his handpicked selection of Jazz, Jazz Fusion, and everything in between. Hear the classic Jazz as the record plays, or pick up some new tunes from the next generation of Jazz makers. If you need to feel cool for an hour, you've come to the right place.

Jazz, and also "Jazz"

The Digital Express

Frequencies. You can hear them in so many ways, so why limit yourself with physical instruments? Take a ride on the Digital Express, and you'll hear a new kind of sound. This block features of wide array of electronic music, including Future Bass, House, Lo-Fi, Melodic Dubstep, and so much more. This is a great place for new people trying a different music style as well as a home for the niche picks you just won't here anywhere else.

"Lofi Chill Study Beats to Relax To"

The Mix

If every other music block got together and made music, this is what you'd hear. Bounce to Pop melodies, sing along to your favorite song, or maybe just get another one stuck in your head for the next 48 hours. Old or new, these tunes are more Poppy than Pop-Corn itself.

Yesterday's, Today's, and Tommorow's Hits

The Rat Club

Two friends that love rats and music. This talk show with Zander and Izzy explores pop topics. Call in music requests are highly encouraged.

Mondays at 2:45

The Whobbles

Featuring Dubstep, Riddim, Deep House, and other bass heavy music styles, the Whobbles selection has swept late-night radio and become a home for hard electronic enthusiats all over the Avondale Area. Featuring Artists like Dr.Ozi, Spag Heddy, Drive Pilot, and many more, get ready to turn up the volume (to a healthy limit) and enjoy some Whobbles.

What Would you Do?

“What would you do” is a show all about how far a group of people can push a random conversation to the point where it becomes interesting. With gems like “do stairs go up or down?” and “if you drink 2, 5 hour energys, how much energy will you have” Tune in on February 12, 19, or  26th to hear all about it!
